Overview

Go for a single dive or book a package of dives. If you are interested in underwater photography then see our photo diving information.

Shore
Diving

Dahab is mainly shore diving. There is no need to take boats as we have coral reefs all around us. The dive sites are situated where it is easy to access the water and not damage the reef table. For most dive sites this means there is a break in the reef table that allows us entry. Some dive sites are only dived on calm days at high tide as we swim over the reef table to get to the open water.

Safaris

If you have at leat started the Open Water course, we offer trips that are more than just dives. We have trips to the SS Thistlegorm, day trips to Gabr El Bint by boat and day trips to Ras Abu Galum by boat or camel. You can read more about them here. If you've started a course, elsewhere, you can still finish it with us. We would reduce the price depending on how much you have done. If you start with us and have to stop we can give you a form to show what you have completed and you can either return within 12 months or continue elsewhere. If you come to us having already started the course then you will already have a manual.

Dive sites

All dive sites are available to you. We do not discriminate and limit where you can dive, based on cost. Some dive sites are deeper than others and require an Advanced Open Water certification. Others may be off limits due to weather conditions. If we feel a dive site is beyond your current ability we will be honest with you and suggest ways we can help you to improve to get you to a level where you and your instructor are comfortable in your ability to safely complete the dive. We won't ask you to do anything you are not capable of doing and will not push you to do a dive simply because we want to keep you in with a group.

Check Dive

We expect everyone to do a check dive with us. A check dive is simply a chance to assess your ability, check your weighting and ease you back into diving. We have a responsibility to the local environment, other divers and our guests to ensure they are safe in the water. We may ask that you do a quick quiz of questions with multiple choice answers - the idea is that the answer is there and it helps with your recall of the theory.

For those divers that have had an extended break from diving, we have a course to go over the theory and then do some of the core diving skills. This is the refresher dive.

We are two dive instructors who came diving in Dahab for our holiday so you can expect we had high expectations. They guys at posiedon were so great! We arrived to Dahab really late in the evening and they waited for us to make sure we are happy and safe. The day after we came to the office and consulted with the great guy at the front desk about the dives were planning to do and filled in paper work (very well organized). On our diving day we got teamed with a great dive instructor who took us to our dives for the day. It was so nice driving in the jeep to the blue hole, relaxing and having dive briefing over tea in the little restaurant was the perfect Bedouin diving experience. We felt very safe and in good and professional hands. Thanks guys for a great experience in Dahab. Hope to come back soon.

Typical Day

Local shore dives

Our normal day begins around 9 am. We may pick you up from your hotel at 8:45 to get you to the dive centre for 9. If we are staying close to the dive centre then we would start the day with a coffee and a chat just to make sure everyone is ready for diving. Kitting up will probably be done at the dive centre. You will get a briefing with a map of the site and the key points will be explained to you. Key points may be specific to the entry and exit or currents, along with a review of signals and emergency procedures. and then your instructor will load the car and take you to the dive site for the dive.

As local dives don't need so much traveling you may be back too early to want to eat. The instructor will usually allow you to decide when you want to do the next dive. You will, of course, follow computer / dive tables in making this decision as you can't choose to go back too soon. You may decide to wait and see if the wind drops to open up another dive site or you may choose to move quickly to the next dive. Food and drinks are available at the dive centre, if you'd like lunch or a snack. When you are ready, you would follow the same procedure as for the first dive - kit up, briefing and travel to the dive site for the actual dive.

Out for the day

Some dive sites are too far away to make traveling back and forth worth while. For the Canyon and Blue Hole dive sites, that are close to each other, it makes sense to take everything you need for both dives. If this has been agreed the day before you may start earlier to try and avoid the rush at these busy sites. An 8 am start is not uncommon. At the dive centre you would pack your kit into boxes for transportation to the dive site. You would then set up and have the briefing at the dive site. These remoter sites have restaurants around where you can get food and drinks, so take a little money with you.

After the first dive you may sit and relax or move onto the next site and take a break there. After a suitable surface interval, and when everyone is ready, you would have the briefing for the next dive. Again, after the dive you may choose to sit and relax at the dive site before returning to the dive centre to complete logbooks.

When you first arrive we would ask that you bring your logbooks, diving certification cards and your passport or a copy, all to help with the signing in process. If you have a medical statement signed by a doctor, please remember to bring it with you.

Ready to book?

If you're ready to book your dive or still have further questions, send us what you have in mind and we'll be happy to respond to your request.
